Episode 27: The Scary Topic of Weight
Tuesday Sep 13, 2011
Tuesday Sep 13, 2011
Hi all, Yes, I have dared to tread where only idiots usually go, the land of weight. I attempt, and I don't know how well, to discuss a variety of issues around weight, society, choices, underlying issues and all kinds of nasty things that go into our collective insanity regarding the amount of flesh on our bodies. But first, I address a small addition to the Tyson discussion on getting past limitations. The first break has us listening to We Come from Monkeys by blog post by The Body Sacred. And then we learn that this episode was brought to us by the King of Pentacles and the rune Nied. You get to hear a promo from Media Astra Ac Terra. The final segment is a Body Divine on getting in touch, literally!, with our bodies. There is a postscript. And then the final two songs are by Michelle Mays, the first is Gently Johnny and the second is Earth My Body. I hope you enjoy. Truly. But I'll take anything that isn't horribly hurt and upset by my treatment of the topic. Hmmm, gunshy much? Why yes, yes I am. Talking about charged topics when you can't act and react in accordance to your audience's reaction(s) is horrific. But I did it anyways. Yay me? You be the judge. Saturn

Abysmal Witch (6) - the River of Living
Thursday Aug 25, 2011
Thursday Aug 25, 2011
Greetings to you, First off, my apologies for the sound quality on this episode. Late nights, intoxicants and podcasting can have interesting results... Second, this is a new type of Abysmal Witch episode, where I share my thoughts on a subject. How is this different from the regular episodes? In the PiTW show, I tend to have a more definite take on a subject, I'm relating experience and my conclusions. Here it isn't conclusion, it's musing. It's not pretty solid experience, it's exploration and potentiality. And in this particular episode I share a dream I had, a vision if you will, of a way to view the experience of life. Hopefully I made sense. I'm rather afeared that I didn't... lol ~Abysmal Witch

Episode 26: Accountability, Limitations and Body Work, oh my
Tuesday Aug 09, 2011
Tuesday Aug 09, 2011
Merry meet and welcome to episode 26! We're a quarter of a dollar old. Wowsers. In a nutshell, I talk about: Accountability, and refer to a couple of iPhone apps: My Fitness Pal and Cash Trails. Then a wee music interlude with Tiller's Folly's Twenty-Three Camels and a promo from The Magick Jukebox. The main segment was from the "Guess the song, name the topic" contest from many episodes ago that was won by Tyson. So, with his suggestions in hand, I ramble on (or discuss eruditely, you choose) on self-imposed limitations. We learn that this episode is brought to us by the Nine of Wands (I think, oops! put the card back before I typed this up lol) and the rune Othela. And we end with a Body Divine segment on working with emotions via movement and then taking that a step further and using the same methodology to work with dreams. The final song of the show is Kali-Ma by Kelliana. Hope you enjoy! Saturn

YEEHA! Episode 25 with a bang! of Mad Hatter Mead
Thursday Jul 28, 2011
Thursday Jul 28, 2011
Muwhahahaha. This is a mad hatter episode to beat all other mad hatter episodes to date. I ranted. I swore. I griped and sniped and even sang, poorly, but there was singing! And mention of: The Pagan Podkin Supermoot 2 which I will be attending. The Regretsy Tarot Deck of fabulous awesomeness. Okay, have had total link failure with everything I've tried. Just go to www.kickstarter.com and search for "regretsy tarot" and you can't miss it. And they're selling out, so don't wait too long! Aleister Crowley's Liber XCV - The Wake World and Lon Milo DuQuette's Key to Solmon's Key Enter the rabbit hole with me...if you dare. And leave only if you really feel you must. Abysmal Witch (5) - Farewell to a kindred spirit
Wednesday Jul 13, 2011
Wednesday Jul 13, 2011
Greetings to you all, Yesterday I learned that someone I knew had died. Last night I did a ritual to give me a chance to say good-bye. This short, slightly disjointed (I recorded right after the ritual!) episode describes that ritual. On the blog I have both a post honouring the kindred spirit I lost (& those I have not) and one to go with this episode (has a couple pictures of the altar). Much love, ~Abysmal Witch

Episode 24: Altered States, Wiccan Rede and reflection, oh my!
Sunday Jun 19, 2011
Sunday Jun 19, 2011
Greetings and salutations! Thank you for downloading, listening and otherwise engaging with me through this podcast. After a quick catch up on the local events that happened, we go straight into the first segment: Altered states of consciousness, particularly how to induce one by simply experiencing your world from a different physical perspective. In the first break we listen to Heather Dale's Up Into the Pear Tree, a fun and lovely and tricksy song. :) During the main segment I do my bit for the pagan virtues month by sharing my take on the Wiccan Rede: An it Harm None, Do what ye Will. Then we learn that this episode is brought to us by the Magician and Raidho. Then a promo from fellow podcaster Kathleen of Borealis Meditation. The final segment of the night was brought to you by Marc and Angel Hack Life. This is a fabulous reflective list that I strongly recommend checking out! And we close out with my new favourite song from SJ Tucker: Cheshire Kitten (We're All Mad Here). I hope you enjoy! ~Saturn. The Abysmal Witch

Abysmal Witch (4) - My Personal Altar
Wednesday May 18, 2011
Wednesday May 18, 2011
Greetings and salutations. This episode isn't a ritual but rather a sharing of one of my personal methods of working. Specifically, the altar I have to my Self. If you want a visual to go with this, please see my blog at Abysmal Witch. Hope you find interesting, Saturn

Tuesday May 10, 2011
Merry meet and welcome, one and all! It's been awhile in the arriving, but here it is, episode 23. Whew! To start off with, we have a Big P segment on the change of aging. Our musical break features two songs from Beloved: Tree Song and Centuries Fade. Visit their site to download your very own free copy of Centuries Fade with their blessings. The main segment of the day is a magical housekeeping segment made large. I talk about purging 'stuff' from our lives. Break number two has a promo from Iron Powaqa and we learn that this episode has been brought to us by the Six of Swords and the run Kenaz. I finish with discussing progressive relaxation as a meditation technique and then take you through the experience if you so desire. I hope you enjoy the show! Episode 22: Transformative Mysteries
Wednesday Mar 16, 2011
Wednesday Mar 16, 2011
Hi all! Yes, after much time I am back! It's a bit of a rocky return, so please bear with me :) (or is that bare?) In the opening I talk about my current circumstances, a bit of a review of my original and ongoing intention for the show and a few things I've learned in recent times. During the break we listen to Going Huntin' and Jesus Brother Bob by Arrogant Worms. We also finish the show with their song Last Saskatchewan Pirate. For the main segment I discuss transformative mysteries (which to my joy includes MEAD! lol) and then the second break we learn that this episode is brought to us by the tarot card The Moon and the rune Ingwar. We also hear from Arial at Appalachian Witch Doctor Tales. We conclude with learning that Robin is the winner of the Faeries Guide to Green Magick from the Garden and by hearing what different people find most magical in nature. Thank you to everyone who emailed me! And in closing some quick reminders: Misanthrope Press has extended the deadline for submitting short stories for their Etched Offerings pagan anthology to April 30, 2011; and Peter Dybing of Covenant of the Goddess has set up a donation site for pagans to contribute to Doctors Without Borders to support relief efforts in Japan. And that should be it. But with a brain like swiss cheese these days (still recovering!), such is life. Blessings of the deep and wild to you all, Saturn

Merry meet to one and all!
Yes, episode 19 is finally out. Tonight we have the usual suspects, things that I've learned recently (ranging from mead making/goal setting to writing/goal setting...aparently all about goals lol) and a Big P segment on the impact of my spirituality on my suicidal experiences.
The first break is Hold On by Sarah McLachlan.
Then we head straight into the discussion on dealing with suicide when it's someone you know.
Second break tells us that this episode is brought to us by the Knight of Cups and the rune stones Fehu and Kenaz. And we hear a bumper from Kakophonos Podcast, thanks Rikki!

Abysmal Witch (3) - Past Connections
Wednesday Nov 10, 2010
Wednesday Nov 10, 2010
Merry meet and welcome to the 3rd abysmal witch episode. This is something of a tribute to Canada's Remembrance Day celebrations as well as introducing a new segment to the Abysmal Witch land: Abysmal Musings. As in thoughts and ideas I'm having, not all nice and organized(ish) and worked through over long periods of time but things that are just going through my head based upon the current topic. Which in this case is past connections: personal life connections, anscestors, and country history. I'm pleased to play a song by Tiller's Folly entitled Robbie McBeath, a hero from WWI. I also read In Flanders Fields in honour of Remembrance Day (that's a Canadian national holiday on November 11th if you don't happen to know). And the episode concludes with a ritual to help me release negative emotions I have about a friendship that ended now years ago but where the unpleasant memories still linger. I hope you enjoy ~The Abysmal Witch

After a brief intro story-sharing about my weekend, including a trip to church for Compline, there's a break where I play Barenaked Ladies' War on Drugs. This is the intro to the first of a three part series on suicide. In this episode I talk about being suicidal, including my own past experiences, some stats and some personal tips on how I handled it. NOTE: I am NOT a health care professional. This is my own experience. Then we learn that this episode is brought to us by the Page of Shields and the rune stone Kenaz and hear a promo from The Infinite and the Beyond We finish out with a Good Talk/Bad Talk segment, a Body Divine segment (which is intro'd by The Witch Dream by Brandon Moore from Music Alley) and a surprise final segment. Merry meet one and all! Finally this episode is out. Episode 15: Ancestor Worship
Wednesday Sep 01, 2010
Wednesday Sep 01, 2010
Yes, you read that right. Episode 15 is ancestor worship, not experiences of the divine. Due to complications at home and a distinct lack of time to do it justice, that episode has been delayed until after the long weekend and instead I bring to you an interview with my coven mate Holly talking about anscestor worship from the perspective of her native culture (she's Chinese - which is also essentially the subject of the Big P segment this episode). We're a bit barebones due to lack of time, but I'm really glad that we were able to do this episode for you and we clearly had a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy listening to it. We play a promo for New World Witchery and the final (and only) song of the night is Oh Shit It's the Faeries by Parnassus (laterly known as Chalice and Blade Much love, Saturn
