Episode 38 - Self Sex Relationship & Happy Challenge

• January 12th, 2014

AND BETSY TINNEY

But I get ahead of myself.  Welcome to Episode 38 of Pennies in the Well.  We shall not speak again of Episode 37.  It shall be as one that never happened, and that is for the good.

Episode 38 looks at the relationship we have with our bodies, starting from our sexual connection to ourselves and travelling from there as well as a Mission Magical segment on reflecting on all the feel good moments of the day.

This episode was brought to us by The Hanged Man and the Wyrd stone (yes, the wyrd stone is not a traditional futhark concept, but it's in that rune set and it's what I drew, so there it be).

And then the episode ends with Gentle Storm from Betsy Tinney's new album "Release the Cello" which is fabulous and you should go download it right now.

Abysmal Witch #8 - We’re All Mad Here & Service/Slave

• January 12th, 2014

Merry meet and merry talking!  Not that it's been awhile but wow, when did you last see a podcast from here in your feed?

It's an odd episode, tossing out a few thoughts and sharing some stories on a certain acceptable level of madness that we should well embrace, in my opinion followed by some meandering thought exploration of service and master/slave dynamic and what that can mean in a spiritual context.

The show finishes out with "No Place Like Home" from Marianas Trench, a band I've become exceedingly fond of.  It's an even better song when you've listened to the album as it embraces components of previous songs in its making.

Have missed you somewhat fiercely.

Episode 34: A Little Bit Everywhere

• September 11th, 2012

Greetings, wellians!

It's been awhile which has resulted in a thought explosion!  None of the usual segments made it into this episode.  Instead I mused and meandered and muttered my way through a variety of topics in which I mention:

  • <a href="http://paganpodkin.webs.com/">Pagan Podkin Super Moot 3</a>
  • Contest to win a copy of Misanthrope Press' <a href="http://www.misanthrope-press.com/pages/bookdetail/Etched">Etched Offerings</a> by leaving a comment or rating on <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/pennies-in-the-well/id359327185">iTunes' Pennies in the Well</a> and emailing me at penniesinthewell@gmail.com to let me know you did it:  contest ends Dec 31, 2012
  • <a href="http://www.greeneladymusic.com/">Jenna Greene</a> and her song <a href="http://www.greeneladymusic.com/music/?lyrics=Crossroads_Crossroads>Crossroads</a>
  • yo mama

May it not be nearly so long before you hear me again.  Blessings of the deep and wild to you,

Saturn

Episode 33: Changing Beliefs, Finding Passions

• April 16th, 2012

Hello, Glorious Ones!

I have missed you.  You will hear me say that often in this podcast.  So I should let the podcast speak for itself and give you those nitty-gritty handy-dandy funk-n-wagnalls links and details.

The episode starts with a reading of chapter 33 of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleister_Crowley">Crowley's</a> <a href="http://hermetic.com/crowley/libers/lib333.html>Book of Lies</a>.  I mention the craziness of life.

There is music:

<a href="http://www.kellianna.com/buy.php">Kelliana</a>'s This New Day from I Walk With the Goddess and

<a href="http://www.michellemays.com/">Michelle Mays</a>' Creation from Fireleap

Then there is much talk about changing our beliefs, "Flipping our B instead of the Bird" with reference to a workshop by <a href="http://www.elaineallison.com/">Elaine Allison</a>.

Episode 33 is brought to us by the Ten of Wands and the rune Nied and we hear a promo from <a href="http://www.baphmetis.com/>Baphmetis Meditation</a>.

The last segment is on passion.  WOOHOO :D  We all need more.

And finally, our last song of the 'cast is Temple Gates by <a href="http://www.james-asher.co.uk/>James Asher</a> from his album Shaman Drums.

Blessings of the deep and wild to you all.

Saturn, the abysmal witch.

Episode 32: Gossip & Groups & Ranting, Oh My

• February 1st, 2012

Happy Imbolc to all!

Saturn lost her brain yesterday.  If you've seen it, please email her.  In other news, a new episode of Pennies is out.  It starts with a bunch of announcements, it finishes with a lovely song by <a href="http://www.skinnywhitechick.com/">S J Tucker</a> and has another one by her in the middleish.

Oh yes, and there's a rant.  That's pretty much the whole middle.  Ranting on group communication, gossip, the ease of negative crap to go through a community and the rarity of follow up to create understanding.  There's also a promo from <a href="http://www.borealismeditation.com/">Borealis Meditation</a> and we learn that this episode of insanity was brought to us by the tarot the Ace of Spears (i.e. Wands) and the rune Uruz.

There's also reference to <a href="http://www.misanthropepress.com/</a>Misanthrope Press</a> who has given me a copy of their recent release "Etched Offerings" which is a pagan anthology that I will be passing on to one of you wonderful people.  More contest details will follow but this who want to get in early, just rate me or leave a comment on iTunes for Pennies, email me at penniesinthewell@gmail.com to let me know you have and voila! thou art entered.  Into the contest.  Not any other kind of enterting.  That would require additional negotiation.

There were also balloons but I don't think anyone but me knew about that.  Oh well.  Happy living!

Episode 31: Getting SMART on Goals

• January 2nd, 2012

Greetings, salutations and freakin' high fives to everyone!

Yes, by Gods, it is another Pennies episode, and in under a week.  Feeling inspired, I am.

We travel through many arenas, from Magical Housekeeping on cleaning up that altar, to a Body Divine segment on playing with breathing.  The main topic is all about setting goals, using the <a href="http://topachievement.com/smart.html">SMART method</a> (this is but one website out of many options, it's very wide-spread).  At the very end there's a new segment:  Mission Magical.

This episode was brought to us by the tarot card:  The King of Cups and the rune stone:  Beorc.

Middle music is Get Started by <a href="http://www.gangagiri.com/">Ganga Giri</a> and end music is Change the Way Things Are by the band formerly known as <a href="http://www.gaiaconsort.com/">Gaia Consort</a>.

And <a href="http://paganpodkin.webs.com/">Pagan Podkin Super Moot 3</a> will be in San Fransisco, October 5-7!  Meet up on the 6th.  :D

Much love to you all,

Saturn

Episode 30: Being Excellent at Rest

• December 31st, 2011

And no, the title is not a reference to Bill & Ted.

Merry meet and welcome to the 30th episode of Pennies in the Well!  Sneaking it in just under the 2011 wire.  Phew!

In this episode I focus on rest and relaxation and the power of being quiet and regeneration.  And change.  Definitely a bunch about change in there.  And some Salem, but that's mostly about shopping.

I reference: <a href="http://www.TreasureMountainMining.com">Treasure Mountain Mining</a>

<a href=" https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nu-Aeon/118943151458893">Nu Aeon</a>

<a href="http://www.amazon.ca/Be-Excellent-Anything-Four-Transforming/dp/1451610262">Be Excellent at Anything</a> by Tony Schwartz

There's also a new promo from Oraia Helene for the renamed podcast <a href="http://sphinx.libsyn.com/">Between the Earth and Stars</a> and we learn that this episode is brought to us by the Wheel of Fortune and the rune stone Eihwaz.

Blessings of the deep and wild to you all,

Episode 27: The Scary Topic of Weight

• September 13th, 2011

Hi all,

Yes, I have dared to tread where only idiots usually go, the land of weight. I attempt, and I don't know how well, to discuss a variety of issues around weight, society, choices, underlying issues and all kinds of nasty things that go into our collective insanity regarding the amount of flesh on our bodies.

But first, I address a small addition to the Tyson discussion on getting past limitations.

The first break has us listening to We Come from Monkeys by blog post by The Body Sacred.

And then we learn that this episode was brought to us by the King of Pentacles and the rune Nied. You get to hear a promo from Media Astra Ac Terra.

The final segment is a Body Divine on getting in touch, literally!, with our bodies.

There is a postscript. And then the final two songs are by Michelle Mays, the first is Gently Johnny and the second is Earth My Body.

I hope you enjoy. Truly. But I'll take anything that isn't horribly hurt and upset by my treatment of the topic. Hmmm, gunshy much? Why yes, yes I am. Talking about charged topics when you can't act and react in accordance to your audience's reaction(s) is horrific. But I did it anyways. Yay me? You be the judge.

Abysmal Witch (6) - the River of Living

• August 25th, 2011

Greetings to you,

First off, my apologies for the sound quality on this episode. Late nights, intoxicants and podcasting can have interesting results...

Second, this is a new type of Abysmal Witch episode, where I share my thoughts on a subject. How is this different from the regular episodes? In the PiTW show, I tend to have a more definite take on a subject, I'm relating experience and my conclusions. Here it isn't conclusion, it's musing. It's not pretty solid experience, it's exploration and potentiality.

And in this particular episode I share a dream I had, a vision if you will, of a way to view the experience of life.

Hopefully I made sense. I'm rather afeared that I didn't... lol ~Abysmal Witch

Episode 26: Accountability, Limitations and Body Work, oh my

• August 9th, 2011

Merry meet and welcome to episode 26! We're a quarter of a dollar old. Wowsers.

In a nutshell, I talk about:

Accountability, and refer to a couple of iPhone apps: My Fitness Pal and Cash Trails.

Then a wee music interlude with Tiller's Folly's Twenty-Three Camels and a promo from The Magick Jukebox.

The main segment was from the "Guess the song, name the topic" contest from many episodes ago that was won by Tyson. So, with his suggestions in hand, I ramble on (or discuss eruditely, you choose) on self-imposed limitations.

We learn that this episode is brought to us by the Nine of Wands (I think, oops! put the card back before I typed this up lol) and the rune Othela.

And we end with a Body Divine segment on working with emotions via movement and then taking that a step further and using the same methodology to work with dreams.

The final song of the show is Kali-Ma by Kelliana.

Hope you enjoy!

YEEHA! Episode 25 with a bang! of Mad Hatter Mead

• July 28th, 2011

Muwhahahaha. This is a mad hatter episode to beat all other mad hatter episodes to date. I ranted. I swore. I griped and sniped and even sang, poorly, but there was singing!

And mention of:

The Pagan Podkin Supermoot 2 which I will be attending.

The Regretsy Tarot Deck of fabulous awesomeness. Okay, have had total link failure with everything I've tried. Just go to www.kickstarter.com and search for "regretsy tarot" and you can't miss it. And they're selling out, so don't wait too long!

Aleister Crowley's Liber XCV - The Wake World

and Lon Milo DuQuette's Key to Solmon's Key

Enter the rabbit hole with me...if you dare. And leave only if you really feel you must.

Live and live well!

Abysmal Witch (5) - Farewell to a kindred spirit

• July 13th, 2011

Greetings to you all,

Yesterday I learned that someone I knew had died. Last night I did a ritual to give me a chance to say good-bye. This short, slightly disjointed (I recorded right after the ritual!) episode describes that ritual. On the blog I have both a post honouring the kindred spirit I lost (& those I have not) and one to go with this episode (has a couple pictures of the altar).

Much love, ~Abysmal Witch

Episode 24: Altered States, Wiccan Rede and reflection, oh my!

• June 19th, 2011

Greetings and salutations!

Thank you for downloading, listening and otherwise engaging with me through this podcast. After a quick catch up on the local events that happened, we go straight into the first segment: Altered states of consciousness, particularly how to induce one by simply experiencing your world from a different physical perspective.

In the first break we listen to Heather Dale's Up Into the Pear Tree, a fun and lovely and tricksy song. :)

During the main segment I do my bit for the pagan virtues month by sharing my take on the Wiccan Rede: An it Harm None, Do what ye Will.

Then we learn that this episode is brought to us by the Magician and Raidho. Then a promo from fellow podcaster Kathleen of Borealis Meditation.

The final segment of the night was brought to you by Marc and Angel Hack Life. This is a fabulous reflective list that I strongly recommend checking out!

And we close out with my new favourite song from SJ Tucker: Cheshire Kitten (We're All Mad Here).

I hope you enjoy!

• May 10th, 2011

Merry meet and welcome, one and all!

It's been awhile in the arriving, but here it is, episode 23. Whew! To start off with, we have a Big P segment on the change of aging.

Our musical break features two songs from Beloved: Tree Song and Centuries Fade. Visit their site to download your very own free copy of Centuries Fade with their blessings.

The main segment of the day is a magical housekeeping segment made large. I talk about purging 'stuff' from our lives.

Break number two has a promo from Iron Powaqa and we learn that this episode has been brought to us by the Six of Swords and the run Kenaz.

I finish with discussing progressive relaxation as a meditation technique and then take you through the experience if you so desire.

I hope you enjoy the show!
