Episode 19: Dealing with Suicide

Merry meet to one and all!

Yes, episode 19 is finally out. Tonight we have the usual suspects, things that I've learned recently (ranging from mead making/goal setting to writing/goal setting...aparently all about goals lol) and a Big P segment on the impact of my spirituality on my suicidal experiences.

The first break is Hold On by Sarah McLachlan.

Then we head straight into the discussion on dealing with suicide when it's someone you know.

Second break tells us that this episode is brought to us by the Knight of Cups and the rune stones Fehu and Kenaz. And we hear a bumper from Kakophonos Podcast, thanks Rikki!

The episode ends with a call out to podkin to send me their promos, the winner of the Zombiepalooza contest (Congrats to Oraia! enjoy your Forest Grove Botanica goody bag), and a brand new segment and contest. The new WTF segment had two book reviews. The first was for Wisewoman's Cookery and the second (and also the prize for the contest) was Faeries Guide to Green Magick.

The final song of the night was Genesis's Follow You, Follow Me which I love.

Thanks for downloading the show and I hope you enjoy...or at least find it interesting.

In this podcast, you listed quite a few different types of meads. Are you making all in 5 gallon batches or in smaller batches? It seems to me like making all in 5 gallon batches at once might be a bit on the expensive side for the amount of honey needed.

Hey, Lizz, I’ve got 2 x 1 gallon meads going (beet and rose) and 2 x 2 1/2 gal meads (raspberry/pomegranate & orange spice). I’m also in with some friends on magical meads, those are 5 x 5 gallons but that’s being split between 4 people. It does get expensive which is why I ‘test’ with the 1 gallons to see if I like the result before doing the big ones. Then you factor cost of making vs cost of buying and add in how long before you get results and it’s all worth it, imo. But then, I like drinking mead and would drink more if I had more. Which soon I shall, woohoo lol

Mead is a wonderfully joyful drink! My BF made a 5 gallon batch using honey gathered from his father’s bees. It is our favored drink and we wish to have it served at our wedding.

For the smaller batches of mead, do you take the 5 gallon recipe and just reduce the portions of ingredients? I’d like to make smaller batches as it’s only the two of us in the house.

Sorry for the questions! I love your show!

Ummm, I wing it? lol. I think using 1/5 the ingredients is probably right but I’m a newb at all this. Which means I’m not much help at all, I’m afraid.
