Mad Hatter Ep. 7 & a 2: Sadness
Monday Apr 26, 2010
Monday Apr 26, 2010
Can you believe I'm back already? Neither can I. It must be an illusion of the day. Yes, it's a mad hatter episode, a rather strange one seeing as it's all about sadness. Yes, that's right, sadness. I'm feeling sad and decided it was the perfect time to talk about that subject. WARNING: this show therefore has the potential to induce sadness in the listener. Please don't listen if you don't want to be thinking about such things. This is a completely unedited episode. One take, beginning to end, nothing changed or cut. Ay karumba! I mention Sarah, the Witch of Forest Grove and the Society for Creative Anachronism. And sadness. There's a whole lot of talk about sadness. I also attempt to sing at the end a very old song called Three Ravens, here's the wikipedia link to its history (though the lyrics I know are slightly different). Loving hugs to any and all who need one. Saturn

Episode 6: Cosmology of Self Pt 2, Beltaine Fun & Sex
Thursday Apr 22, 2010
Thursday Apr 22, 2010
Merry meet, one and all! Yes, we're back to a 'normal' episode, if normal can ever be the right word. We start off with Meredith Luce's Pennies in the Well as the intro, per usual and it's straight into a few more things I've learned recently. Ouches included. I mention during this segment: Nikiah, a glorious woman and shaman, Sarah, and a local festival called the Gathering. In the first break I hope you enjoy listening to Temple Gates by James Asher off of his album Shaman Drums and we have a promo from Oraia of Media Astra Ac Terra (podkin love!). Then we head into part 2 of my cosmology of the Self. It's a rambling trip, but we make it through in the end, yay! I make reference in it to the Vicia and Feri tradition's website. Break number two is very short, and we learn that Episode 6 is brought to us by the tarot card The Tower and the rune stone Eihwaz (yes, I was taught to pronounce it with an 'r', and habits die hard!). In the final segment I share a couple of fun traditions my community enjoys during its Beltaine and I share my public service announcement on healthy sexual behaviour and communication at times like these. We close out the show with another song from James Asher, this one Janjara, also off of I guess you could call the feature album of Shaman Drums. I hope you enjoy. Much love, Saturn

Episode 5: Book of the Law, Chapter 3
Friday Apr 09, 2010
Friday Apr 09, 2010
By gods, we're here, the last night of the reading of the Book of the Law. It must be April 10th. Merry meet, to one and all! In the conclusion of this mini-series, we start with a poem by my covenmate Holly, a poem written from Kore's perspective as she's about to be dragged down into the underworld by Hades. We break with the song "Today" by Todd Allen of www.todd-alan.net, a fitting tribute to the theme of the night, I thought. And then we're back with Tyson reading for us the third and final Chapter of Aleister Crowley's Book of the Law. The next break brings a promo from Feithline Stuart of Spiritscast podcast, www.spiritscast.com and, of course, a tarot & rune pull (which I believe were the Lovers and, I think, Fehu, but don't quote me on that). Sloan and Tyson finish off their interview series with me with a discussion of the final chapter, a definite must listen to, and then we close out the show with Tiller's Folly (a local band) "Water at the Bar" off of A Ripple in Time (www.tillersfolly.com). It was a fast and crazy journey, and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do. If I'd figured out our regular programming yet, we'd be headed back to it, but I've got some additional ideas of fun to be had, so you'll hear from me soon, I'm quite certain. Until then, may you have beautiful dreams. Saturn

Episode 4: Book of the Law, Chapter 2
Thursday Apr 08, 2010
Thursday Apr 08, 2010
And we're back! Just like that, with the reading of Chapter 2 of the book of the law. After a brief introduction, we slip straight into a break where we play "Tomb of the King" by Damh the Bard (www.paganmusic.co.uk) off his album "The Cauldron Born". Tyson reads for us again, this time Chapter 2. We have a brief break with a promo from Juniper and Bren of Standing Stone and Garden Gate podcast (www.stonegatepodshow.net) and a tarot/rune pull and it's straight back into discussion with the boys of Invisible House (www.invisiblehouse.org) about Chapter 2. Just before hearing the final song of the night, which was "The Tongue (Like a Little)" by Max Pashm off of Never Mind the Balkans (www.maxpashm.com), we have a couple of interview outtakes for my, and hopefully your, listening pleasure. Can you believe there's only one more Chapter left to go?

Episode 3: Book of the Law, Chapter 1
Wednesday Apr 07, 2010
Wednesday Apr 07, 2010
Merry meet, one and all, I am very pleased to present the first of a three episode series on the Book of the Law. We open with an introduction by Sloan and Tyson of Invisible House (www.invisiblehouse.org) of each other, their practice, Aleister Crowley and the Book of the Law. During the first break we listened to Robert Gass & On Wings of Song's "Ancient Mother" (www.sacredunion.com). Then Tyson reads Chapter 1 of the Book, followed by a break with a promo by Tegan Lleuad of the podcast Moonshine (www.moon-shine.org) and a tarot & rune pull by yours truly. During the final segment, Tyson and Sloan share their opinions on the first Chapter as well as their group's particular practices for the actual nights of the reading. The show is closed with Nina Simone's "I Want a Little Sugar in My Bowl" (www.ninasimone.com). We'll be back tomorrow for Chapter 2. Saturn

Promo - A lively version
Saturday Apr 03, 2010
Saturday Apr 03, 2010
Well, what can I say? I couldn't resist. While my topics may be serious, my heart will always have a place of lightness in it, if not a heavy dollop of silliness. And thus sprang into being this second promo, a much more 'lively' one. I hope anyone listening enjoys it, and to any podcaster who should choose to play it, thank you! Happy today! Saturn

Merry meet to all who read this. It felt very strange, but I did manage to make a properly decorous promo for the show. To any podcaster who may play it, my sincere thanks. :) Saturn

Episode 2.5: Mad-Hatter special on Hades & Persephone
Saturday Apr 03, 2010
Saturday Apr 03, 2010
Yes, that's right, a nip of insanity sipped into the evening of wind and storm, and led to inspiration that needed to be shared! First we have some catch up of recent events, including mention of the wonderful botanicals by Sarah at www.forestgrovebotanica.com. Plus the foolishness of people and the importance of friends, particularly for pointing out our own foolishness. In the break we listen to a short clip of The Brady Bunch singing "Time to Change" off their It's a Sunshine Day album, very short, it's okay, don't fret. Then the Arrogant Worms' "Me Like Hockey" from their album Semi-Conducted (www.arrogantworms.com), a promo from Fire Lyte at Inciting a Riot, and learn that this special Mad Hatter episode of Pitw is brought to you by the tarot card the Hierophant and the rune stone Nadir/Need. In the second (and final segment), I discuss briefly the word 'rape' and then outline very briefly the Demeter/Kore/Persephone myth as an introduction to the piece that I wrote today and was the inspiration for this episode. The piece is written from the point of view of Hades and he speaks to Kore as he goes to the surface to take hold of her as his Wife. The final song is "Caide Sin Don Te Sin?" by Clannad on their Banba album. Their website is www.clannad.ie. I hope you enjoy this Mad Hatter special and I will travel with you again on April 8, 9, and 10th for the Book of the Law episodes. Saturn
